The Bērzes water mill complex in Bērzes parish, Dobele municipality, is being offered – a cultural monument of national importance (No. 4877) and the only oldest still functioning water mill historical monument in Latvia. Here, in an authentic environment, it is possible to observe more than 100-year-old grain processing technologies that operate with water power.

Historical and cultural significance-
Bērzes mill was built in 1863, later rebuilt and improved several times, preserving its original technical and architectural character. It is one of the most significant technical and industrial heritage sites in Latvia.
The mill still operates and displays restored original equipment that allows for the preparation of groats, groats, and flour of various grinds. The premises also contain evidence of the Soviet period, when the complex operated as a carpentry shop – posters, inventory, and other authentic details.
Complex composition-
1. Three-story boulder mill building (2519 m²)
built in 1863, exterior walls renovated, roof replaced, windows restored;
on the first floor – production premises;
a well-equipped, heated two-room apartment (air-to-air heat pump) has been built;
it is possible to restore a previously agreed 270 m² living area with a separate entrance;
the entire building has a spacious basement.
2. Operating hydroelectric power plant (HPP)
HPP equipment: Gugler (Austria) and VEF Kaplan turbines with automation and remote control;
installed capacity: 118 kW;
average annual electricity generation: 400,000 kWh;
the operation of the mill mechanics is also ensured by a 20 kW Francis-type turbine (1924).
3. Outbuildings
stone masonry building – 269.9 m²;
brick auxiliary building – 109.8 m².
4. Hydrotechnical structures
55 m wide dam on the Bērze River;
540 m inlet canal;
140 m outlet canal.
5. Land property – 9.5697 ha
the territory is formed by an island between the Bērze River and the canal;
